Good Luck With That
This mural, located in Boyle Heights, East Los Angeles, depicts a maneki-neko lucky cat with a pair of its toes crossed. The traditional coin is replaced by a multifaceted jewel encasing the Downtown Los Angeles skyline. As light passes through the jewel, the cityscape's image refracts, symbolizing the inevitable changes experienced by this historically Japanese and Jewish neighborhood, now predominantly Latino. The artwork invites reflection on the transformative nature of change and the resilience required to navigate it.
